downtown area as the heart of East Point, communicating a sense of place, community pride and heritage, while providing for a successful business and residential environment. |
Documentary About Downtown East PointIn the fall of 2008, EPMSA applied for and received a grant to be a part of a documentary series produced by People TV & Fulton County Arts Council. The documentary series is called "Sidewalk Stories" and its purpose is to help document portions of Fulton county's communities that have countless stories to tell. The 2009 Sidewalk Stories installment captures five community's or organization's stories: East Side Parks, Community Justice Resource Center, West End, Adams Park and Downtown East Point. You may have seen EPMSA and People TV walking around Downtown East Point in late 2008/early 2009 capturing footage for the documentary. The documentary premiered at the Atlanta Cyclorama June 5, 2009 and then again at the 2009 4th of July Fireworks celebration, "Salute to the Red, White and Blue" in the "Commons" area in front of a crowd of about 12,000 people. The goal for EPMSA in pursuing the documentary was to promote downtown East Point by capturing a small piece of the flavor and history of the downtown area, what it has to offer residents, business owners and visitors now and where its heading in the future. Downtown Documentary Photo Gallery Copies of the DVD are available for a $10 donation at any of EPMSA's events or you may email GeneralInfo@DowntownEastPoint.com to arrange to receive a copy of the DVD.
